We met, married, and brought up our three children in southeastern Connecticut. Dan worked for many years at a large employer and was also a successful business owner. At the same time, we were very active in the ministry of the local church that we attended. Kathy remained home raising the children until it became necessary for her to enter the workforce to help support the family after Dan was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and experiencing a time of poor health.
In spring of 2001, God led them to leave everything behind to serve Him in a Christian ministry that offered a residential program for troubled teens in New York state. A few years prior, one of our children entered that program after experiencing depression and making several suicide attempts. When God rescued our child out of that horrible pit, we were overwhelmed by His mercy and our hearts broke for others in crisis; a passion began to burn within us for other’s to experience God’s great mercy as we had. After sensing God’s leading and making prayerful preparations, we stepped out by faith and resigned our employments, sold our home, and left all as we trusted God and followed His call to minister to the hurting. At the time, we had no idea that through this experience God was training us for our own future ministry.
In the midst of serving for years in this ministry, the Lord miraculously called us and birthed the vision of the next step on our journey … to return to southeastern Connecticut, specifically Stonington, to start New Life Ministries, and we followed the Lord once again with the ministry’s leadership blessing. Because we’ve seen and experienced firsthand who God is and what He does, we’re devoted to helping the hurting heal and live a ‘new life’. Before leaving New York, the Lord spoke to our hearts to “go like Abraham did...by faith”, and once again without knowing all the details. As God continued to unfold those details of the vision He had, we realized that it was much more extensive than we had ever imagined.
From the first call of God to serve Him in the local church, to ministering to troubled teens,
pioneering a ministry, to holding church services in our living room and then stepping out by faith and being led by God into the community – throughout our journey God has remained faithful.
Consequently, we’ve grown into a deeper, more intimate relationship with Him and we’re devoted to helping others do the same. Through all of these experiences, we’ve witnessed God’s compassion change lives … including ours. Because of this, we have a burning passion to be used of God to make a difference in the lives of others. It’s all about God,
if He did it for us … He’ll do it for others too!
Serving at the pleasure of our Master,
Dan and Kathy
